Location: Midland – United States
The Design Engineer is responsible for the design and engineering of downhole rod pumps and associated components, functions as a technical resource for internal and external stakeholders, and assists in developing new products as needed. The position reports to the Product Engineering Manager.
Successful Design Engineers are mechanical engineering experts, excellent communicators, enjoy solving problems, and work well in teams.
Design and prepare production/manufacturing drawings using Autocad 2D, Autodesk Inventor 2D and 3D for sucker rod pumps and artificial lift completion tools.
Develop calculations as required for verifying equipment and components.
Optimize and test designs using Finite Element Analysis, develop test procedures.
Prepare and document engineering change notices for continuous improvement.
Prepare manufacturing drawings.
New product development and product improvement.
Perform failure analysis, including sample preparation and metallography.
Prepare, present and publish technical documents and reports for industry events.
Provide technical support to customers.
Troubleshoot problems and recommend appropriate actions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Training: Degree from an accredited program in Mechanical engineering with Materials engineering background.
Technical Requirements: Working knowledge and proficiency in metallography, fluid dynamics, drafting, GD&T, manufacturing & mechanical design.
Good working knowledge of oil and gas related product engineering, API 11AX, 11B
Proficiency in computer programs including Autocad 2D, Autodesk Inventor 2D & 3D, Microsoft Office.
Experience of working in a high volume manufacturing environment.
Strong math and analytical skills with good oral, written and presentation skills.
Experience: 3-5 years of related experience
