Senior Drilling Engineer

The Senior Drilling Engineer (SDE) is responsible for providing the engineering expertise required to deliver well designs, planning and programs that meet business objectives, are in compliance with local regulations and in conformance with all BP practices and procedures.
The SDE is responsible for working with cross-functional peers in GWO Engineering, GWO Operations, Reservoir Development, exploration, GPO and GOO to ensure drilling engineering well planning and design meets all project business objectives. The SDE supports the Wells Superintendent in execution of well operations by leading delivery of drilling engineering support. The SDE is responsible for development of national talent and is expected to provide coaching and mentoring support to less experienced DE staff.
This role is targeting specific drilling engineering expertise in HP/HPHT well design and execution for an upcoming program in Trinidad.

Responsabilidades principales
Leads the extended well planning team (BP and service) to develop optimal well construction choices to meet programme HSE, performance and life of well objectives.
Supervises the application and integration of NWcp processes in well planning work.
Leads well project Risk Management through early identification of hazards and verifying barrier health in engineering planning
Verifies that engineering well designs and procedures satisfy BP practices and applicable regulatory requirements.
Responsible for development of well BoDs.
Supervises a team of Drilling Engineers to deliver well plans and programs.
Coaches and Mentors staff for development and improvement.
Manages Suppliers to ensure timely delivery of equipment and personnel required to deliver well objectives.
Verifies time and cost estimates and leads progress tracking and reporting through to the DETL / DEM.
Leads engineering activities to drive continuous improvement in efficiency and cost through improvements in well designs and planning.
Responsible for technical integrity of well plans to enable fit for purpose application and reliability during the life cycle of the well.

Formación esencial
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or qualified scientific discipline.

Experiencia esencial y requisitos del puesto
Experience and track record in delivering Well Engineering for HP / HPHT wells.
Minimum of 12 years’ experience in well engineering and well operations
Track record of accessing BP’s global expertise to overcome complex well challenges.
Proactive commitment and track record of coaching and mentoring engineers.
Track record of working across multi-disciplinary teams in different geographical regions.
Expert knowledge of well design and construction methods.
Expert knowledge of BP’s engineering practices and tools; experience in supporting drilling operations.
Expert knowledge in fluids, cementing, casing design and well design implications with prior experience in HP and narrow PPFG well design.
Experienced practitioner in the well construction workflow process (e.g. NWcP) and performance managing DE delivery against project milestones.
Ability to prioritize engineering activities and drive solutions using multi-disciplined resources.

Valid IWCF/IADC Well Control certificate
Valid BOSIET / Sea survival certificate
