The candidate can be expected to work in the following disciplines: Design for Reliability (DfR) within the Engineering Group for Artificial Lift Systems. Responsibilities include reliability analysis and support of mechanical and electrical systems associated with downhole ESP’s, surface pumping systems and other forms of artificial lift.
Candidate will work individually and as part of a team developing new products, supporting existing products, testing and evaluating equipment, performing mechanical analysis, and providing technical assistance as needed within the Engineering and Manufacturing environment.
Candidate will coordinate project work internally within the department and externally with other departments (Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Testing, Purchasing, Marketing, Accounting, etc.) to ensure on-time completion of projects.
Receives moderate to minimal supervision on most or all aspects of each project and is expected to meet all deadlines on time and within budget. Approximately 5% international and domestic travel can be expected.
Works primarily in a Design for Reliability capacity.
Develops, coordinates and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments (doe).
Recommends design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability
Investigates and analyzes relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes
Analyzes preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering programs to achieve company, and in some cases customer reliability objectives.
May develop mathematical models to identify units or processes posing excessive failure risks
As necessary, proposes changes in design to improve system and/or process reliability
May determine units requiring environmental testing, and specifies minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data
Responsible for projects of moderate complexity.
Assignments can be a significant portion of a larger project.
Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and makes sound design recommendations.
Assesses results for applicability, validity and conformance to specifications.
May be the lead engineer on smaller project with little functional supervision or on larger projects with some direction or supervision.
Usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters.
May be assisted by entry or junior level personnel.
Operates with some latitude in making autonomous decisions. Reviews progress with team/project leader
Assignments are reviewed for overall soundness and adherence to stated objectives.
Handles special projects, as assigned.
May provide work direction and mentoring for less experienced engineers and technicians.
Sphere of influence includes regional operations and customers in addition to engineering groups, support organizations, and vendors.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 8+ years’ experience, or Master’s Degree in Engineering and 5+ years’ experience, or Ph.D. in Engineering and 2+ years’ experience.
2D & 3D CAD expertise required, NX preferred
Previous experience reviewing mechanical designs for improvements.
Intermediate to advanced technical skills.
Good problem solving skills with a drive for results.
Good written and verbal skills.
Good organizing, planning, and presentation skills.
Good project management skills.
Ability to build peer relationships as well as work independently.
Must be action oriented, ethical in value, and have a strong customer focus.
Oil and Gas experience specifically with Artificial Lift systems is preferred.
Pump or Rotating equipment experience preferred.
FEA Modelling and simulation experience
Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
